A petition is being put forward to propose people over the age of 55 to require a “technology licence” before being allowed to use devices such as computers, tablets & smart phones.
It is hoped the proposal will reduce the stress caused on the younger and more tech savvy generations, by elder relatives assuming that their children & grandchildren are a sort of 24hr free helpline.
32 year old Joe Smith comments, “I’ve lost count of the number of times my parents have called at inappropriate moments to ask questions about why some piece of technology isn’t working. Only last Saturday night my Father called wondering why his printer wasn’t working.”
“I was in bed with my partner at the time” adds Joe “Our moment was ruined. I mean how important is it to print off a carp fishing article at 11pm on a Saturday?”
“And to add insult to injury, the problem only turned out to be his printer not being switched on”
